Desarticulan red de minería ilegal en Morona Santiago
El Bloque de Seguridad ejecutó operativos para contrarrestar el delito de actividad ilícita de recursos mineros en Morona Santiago.
En una operación conjunta liderada por el Ejército, el Ministerio de Ambiente, Agua y Transición Ecológica (MAATE), y la Agencia de Regulación y Control, se ha logrado desmantelar una red de minería ilegal en el sector Bosque Protector “Tinajillas – Río Gualaceño”, situado en el cantón Limón Indanza de la provincia de Morona Santiago.
La acción, desarrollada a partir de inteligencia militar, resultó en la destrucción de 10 campamentos utilizados para actividades de minería ilegal en la zona. Durante la intervención, se incautaron seis dragas artesanales, cuatro motores de succión y un generador de energía, todos ellos utilizados para la explotación ilegal de recursos naturales.
Este operativo refleja el compromiso de las autoridades en combatir las actividades delictivas en la región amazónica, de acuerdo al informe «Amazon Underworld – Economías ilegales en el bosque tropical más grande del mundo” dentro del cual identifica a la minería ilegal como uno de los pilares clave junto con el narcotráfico y el tráfico de personas.
El aumento de estas actividades ilícitas en la Amazonía ecuatoriana ha impulsado un mayor esfuerzo por parte de las autoridades para hacerles frente y preservar el invaluable patrimonio natural de la región.
